CitiBank has announced that their iPhone app stored bank account details of customers.
The Citi Mobile iPhone banking program lets Citibank customers in the US check their account and credit card balances, pay bills and transfer money, and helped them locate nearby ATMs. The information was stored in hidden files on the user’s handsets and computers. They were logging account numbers and bill payment information, among other data.
They have since updated their program to delete the data. But customers have to update the software for that to happen. According to CitiBank, they are not aware of any data breach that has occurred due to this.
So, if any of you are using this app, you might want to install the application right away.
