The primary method of authentication online still remains the user-id and password. Of these, the password is the more important component, since it is supposed to be known only to the owner. Is that really the case? And even if it is how easy will it be for someone to obtain it?

Heartland Payment Systems has settled with Visa and will pay upto $60 million. This will cover the losses incurred by issuers of Visa cards due to the breach at Heartland in 2008.

Twitter’s domain name had been hijacked recently and visitors were redirected to an unrelated site hosting the page that claimed the site had been hacked by persons with links to Iran. More details about how this was done is trickling out.
